“Free to Run” Middle School Retreat 2022

It was such a joy and privilege to witness these kids, laugh, dance, talk about and struggle with their faith and encounter The Father and Jesus, His son, by the Holy Spirit at “Free to Run,” our recent Middle School Retreat. As we celebrate the graces we experienced this year, we look forward to all that Holy Spirit will be working in the hearts of these young disciples moving forward until next year’s retreat.

Kids sing the theme song for the retreat specially written for the retreat by one of the retreat team members, Powers High School senior, Joey Urgino.

RUN TO THE FATHER

The kids were given the opportunity to Run to the Father through Jesus in the Eucharist. It was profoundly moving to see how nearly all of them got up at the same time to kneel before the altar.

CHOSEN

Kids pick up their crosses. In as much as God has called us to be his, the kids were given the opportunity in turn to choose Christ. Putting on these necklaces were a way of saying: “I choose you, Jesus.”

Middle School Retreat Worship

Session Talks

Talks were given by Holy Redeemer and St. Robert’s high school youth teens.

Small Group Discussions

The kids had the opportunity to share their thoughts during a couple of the sessions in small group discussions led by both a teen and adult guide.

Teens from both Holy Redeemer and St. Robert’s youth groups facilitated the retreat, last February 19-20 at Holy Redeemer under the guidance of adult volunteers and staff. They led the middle schoolers in songs, games, gave talks, testimonies and participated in a separate guys/girls session, reconciliation and Eucharistic Adoration.

It was an awesome opportunity for the middle schoolers to have fun, grow in friendship and be filled with the Spirit who ushers in that intimate, life changing encounter with Jesus along with the freedom and joy that comes with knowing you are a child of God. The kids had a blast and we look forward to next year’s retreat!

You won’t have to wait to get your middle schoolers involved. it’s never too late to sign them up for SEEKERS, Holy Redeemer’s ministry for kids K-8th grade. More than a class, it’s an opportunity to grown in friendship and encounter a personal relationship with God, through, Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.
